What is the truth or dare wheel?

Truth or dare is the classic party game: on your turn, you either answer a question honestly or take on a dare. This truth or dare wheel fixes the two things that usually slow it down. A wheel picks whose turn it is, so nobody is skipped or picked on, and a deck of cards supplies the questions, so nobody runs out of ideas.

The deck holds 200 cards, 100 truths and 100 dares, in three levels: Kids, Friends and Party. All of them are clean and safe to do in a living room. It runs in the browser on any phone, with no app and no account.

How to play truth or dare

  1. Type the players’ names, one per line.
  2. Choose a level: Kids, Friends or Party.
  3. Spin the player wheel. Each player is picked once per round, then the wheel refills.
  4. The chosen player taps Truth, Dare or “Let the wheel choose”, which spins a two-slice wheel.
  5. Read the card aloud, then tap “Done!”, worth a point if scoring is on, or “Skip” for a new card.

Cards are drawn without replacement, so none comes back until the level runs out. Agree on house rules first, for example two skips per player, no questions asked.

Three levels: Kids, Friends and Party

Each type has 35 Kids cards, 35 Friends cards and 30 Party cards.

Kids suits children from about seven, sleepovers and family evenings: funny voices, animal walks and questions about school, food and superpowers.

Friends, the default, is for teenagers, classmates and colleagues: harmless confessions, accents, impressions and quick challenges.

Party is for adults, with deeper questions about regrets and secrets and dares built on performance, like speeches and mime. The whole deck follows one rule: nothing sexual, dangerous, humiliating or involving alcohol.

Add your own questions

The best cards are often the ones only your group understands. Add your own truths and dares, pick a level for each, and they join the deck. They are saved with your wheel on your device, never on a server. Try a birthday deck about the guest of honor, or a class deck in the language you are learning.

For a game made only of challenges, spin the punishment wheel; for dilemmas instead of confessions, try the would you rather wheel.

Play truth or dare on a video call

One host opens the page and shares their screen, so every player sees the same wheel and the same card. Most dares need no props and are made for the camera: impressions, accents, songs and speeches. For a work meeting, stay on the Friends level, or warm up with a few icebreaker questions.

Is the truth or dare wheel fair to every player?

Yes. The player wheel and the deck both use your browser’s cryptographic random generator, and each result is decided before the animation starts. Because a player leaves the wheel after their turn until the round ends, everyone plays exactly once per round, and nobody gets picked three times in a row. See how the draw works, and test it, on the fairness page.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play truth or dare?

Players take turns. On your turn, choose Truth and answer a personal question honestly, or Dare and complete a small challenge. Here the wheel picks whose turn it is, so everyone plays once per round, and the deck deals a card from your chosen level. Tap “Done!” to score a point or “Skip” for another card.

Is there a version of truth or dare for kids?

Yes. The Kids level has 35 truths and 35 dares written for children from about seven: silly voices, animal walks, drawing with eyes closed and questions about school, food or superpowers. Nothing is scary or embarrassing, so it suits family evenings, sleepovers and class parties. Adults can add extra cards the children will enjoy.

Can I add my own truth or dare questions?

Yes. Add as many truths and dares as you like and assign each one to a level. Your cards are saved with your wheel, on your device only, and mix with the 200 built-in cards. You can also play with your own cards alone, which is handy for themed games such as birthdays.

How many players do you need for truth or dare?

Two players are enough, but the game is at its best with four to ten, when every dare has an audience. With a big group, split into smaller circles or play in teams, with one person answering for the team. To decide who spins first, roll the dice roller.

Are the questions suitable for an adult party?

Yes. The Party level is written for adults, with deeper questions about regrets, choices and secrets, and dares built on performance, such as speeches or mime. It stays clean: nothing sexual, nothing dangerous, no alcohol and nothing designed to humiliate. Anyone can tap “Skip” on a card that feels too personal.
