A coupon wheel for your website, ready in minutes
The LuckyWheel spin to win wheel is a small game you add to your online store. A visitor spins the wheel and, depending on where it stops, wins a discount code, free shipping or another perk. Spin to win popups are a classic of e-commerce because they turn a casual visit into a first order and grow your mailing list at the same time.
You choose the prizes, their odds and their codes, then paste one line of code into your site. The wheel opens in a popup from a floating button, as soon as the page loads, after a delay, or when the visitor is about to leave. You can also place it inside a page dedicated to your giveaway.
It is free. You only need a LuckyWheel account to save your wheels and see the statistics. If you want a wheel to spin in front of an audience instead, the prize wheel and the raffle picker still work without any account.
How the spin the wheel popup works
- Create your free account, then a wheel from your dashboard: six sample prizes are already in place.
- Set up the prizes: label, colour, chance, stock and type. One coupon code for everyone, a list of unique codes imported from a CSV file, a prize without code, or a “no prize” slice.
- Choose the rules: one play per visitor for the whole campaign or one per day, optional or required e-mail, start and end dates, websites allowed to show the wheel.
- Paste the embed code just before the closing body tag of your pages. One line gives you the floating button and the popup.
- Follow the results: views, plays, wins per prize, e-mails collected and CSV export.
Protected codes and a draw made by the server
Many promotional wheels pick the result in the browser, so anyone who opens the page source can read every code. Here, the wheel page only contains the labels and colours of the slices. When the visitor clicks “Spin the wheel”, our server makes the draw according to your odds and assigns the code; the wheel then stops on that slice. The code only appears at that moment, next to a Copy button.
Stock is counted at the time of the draw: a prize that runs out leaves the wheel, and a unique code is never given twice, even when several visitors play in the same second. Play limits rely on a random identifier stored in the browser, on the e-mail address when you ask for one, and on a keyed hash of the connection. The draw uses a cryptographic random generator, like all our wheels; our page on how the draw stays fair explains the method.
Collect e-mails the right way
You decide whether the e-mail address is not asked, optional or required to play. The marketing consent box is always unchecked by default, and visitors can play without ticking it, so you can tell apart the addresses you may use for a newsletter from those given only to take part.
The dashboard lists every player with their consent status, and the CSV export can be limited to the people who agreed. When a visitor asks you to erase their data, one action is enough. You remain responsible for the addresses you collect; LuckyWheel processes them on your behalf, as described in our privacy policy.
Giveaways on an e-commerce site: what to check
A spin to win game on a store must stay an honest promotion. Here are the points we recommend checking before launch. This is general information, not legal advice: the rules differ from one country to another.
- Free, no purchase necessary: taking part must never depend on an order. The wheel says so under the button.
- Official rules: dates, prizes, number of prizes and how the codes can be used. Add their address in the wheel rules and a link appears under the button.
- Real prizes: never show a slice that cannot be won. A slice with a weight of zero is not shown, and you can display the odds to visitors.
- Consent to your e-mails: optional, freely given and separate from playing, as required by the GDPR and similar laws.
Floating button, popup or dedicated page
The embed code works on most websites that accept HTML: WordPress and WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Shopify or a custom site. The script is light, has no external dependency and sets no cookie on your website. The popup closes with the Escape key, keeps keyboard focus inside and follows the visitor's “reduce motion” setting.
Prefer your own button? Add one attribute to any link or button of your site. For a giveaway page, the iframe shows the wheel right inside your content. To run a contest on social media rather than on your store, see the Instagram giveaway picker.
A free plan with a “Powered by LuckyWheel” link
The free plan includes up to 10 wheels per account, 12 slices per wheel, 20,000 unique codes per wheel and 10,000 plays per wheel each month. A small “Powered by LuckyWheel” link appears at the bottom of the wheel. No credit card is required and no advertising is shown inside the wheel.
Frequently asked questions
Is the coupon wheel really free?
Yes. You create a free account, then up to ten wheels with their codes, rules and statistics. No credit card is ever asked. The only counterpart is a discreet “Powered by LuckyWheel” link at the bottom of the wheel. The limits of the free plan, such as 10,000 plays per wheel and per month, are more than enough for most online stores.
Can visitors find the coupon codes without playing?
No. The wheel page only contains the labels and colours of the slices, never the codes. Our server makes the draw when the visitor clicks and only sends the code to the winner. Unique codes imported from your file are given once each, and the slice leaves the wheel when the list runs out, so nobody can collect codes from the page source.
How do I stop people from playing several times?
Choose one play per visitor for the whole campaign or one per day. The server checks a random identifier stored in the browser, the e-mail address when you ask for it, ignoring variants such as “+promo”, and the number of plays from the same connection. You can also allow one to three extra tries after a “no prize” slice.
Which websites can show the wheel?
Any website that accepts HTML: WordPress, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Shopify or a custom site. Paste one line before the end of your pages for the floating button and popup, or use the iframe in a dedicated page. In the wheel rules you can restrict it to your own domains, so that no other website can embed your wheel and hand out your codes.
What happens to the e-mail addresses collected?
They are stored for your account and only visible in your dashboard, together with the consent given or not for your offers. You can export them as CSV, erase the address of a visitor who asks, or delete the wheel with all its data. We never use them for our own mailings and we never sell them.
Can I schedule a giveaway with dates?
Yes. Set a start and an end date in the wheel rules, in your own time zone. Before the start, visitors see a waiting message; after the end, a thank-you message. You can also pause the wheel at any time from the dashboard without removing the embed code from your website, and resume it later with the same code.
