What the Instagram giveaway picker does
This Instagram giveaway picker turns the comments under your post into a clean list of entries, applies your contest rules and draws one or several winners at random. You copy the comments, paste them here, and the tool extracts the usernames, removes repeat entries and checks mentions or hashtags before the draw. It is built for shops, creators and brands with a few dozen to a few thousand comments.
LuckyWheel does not connect to Instagram: no password, no API, your data stays in your browser. The sample list on this page uses obviously fictional accounts, such as example.lina, so you can try every option before using your own comments.
How to pick an Instagram giveaway winner
- Copy the comments from your post, using one of the three methods below.
- Paste them into the input box. Usernames and comment text are recognized automatically.
- Set your rules: one entry per account, minimum number of mentions, required keyword or hashtag, excluded accounts.
- Check the preview table, which marks every comment as valid or excluded, with the reason.
- Choose the number of winners and alternates, draw, then download the certificate and the result image.
Get your comments: three methods
1. Copy the comments from Instagram
On a computer, open the post on instagram.com and scroll the comments until they have all loaded. Select from the first comment to the last, copy and paste. A line that looks like a username starts a comment, the lines after it are its text, and clutter such as Reply, Like, See translation or times like 3h and 1w is ignored.
2. Paste a list
If you already have the participants, for example from a story poll or direct messages, paste one entry per line. If followers entered by choosing a number, the random number generator is the simpler tool.
3. Import a CSV file
If you exported the comments with another tool, import the CSV. Columns are detected from their headers: username, user, handle or author for the account, and comment or text for the message.
Entry rules: mentions, keyword, one entry per account
One entry per account is on by default: someone who commented ten times still has one chance, like everyone else. Turn it off only if your rules say that each comment is a new entry.
Minimum mentions, from 0 to 5, checks that a comment tags enough friends. Only distinct @usernames count, and tagging yourself does not. Required keyword or hashtag keeps only comments that contain it, such as #giveaway. Excluded accounts removes your own account, your partners or your team.
Announce the winner in your story
Once the draw is done, create a result image in square or story format (1080 × 1920) showing the winner, the date and the time, ready to post. Add the draw certificate: it lists the number of valid entries, the settings, the winners and the alternates, plus a SHA-256 fingerprint of the participant list. Followers can download the list and check that it was not edited afterwards.
Why we never ask for your password
Some comment pickers ask you to log in with Instagram or hand over account access. We chose not to. Your Instagram password is the key to your business, and an outside tool does not need it to read text you can copy yourself. Everything here runs in your browser: the comments you paste are never uploaded to our server, and no Instagram data is fetched or stored on our side. The only trade-off: you copy the comments yourself.
Instagram giveaway best practices
Whether you run a boutique in Rabat or a bakery in Manchester, a few habits keep a giveaway fair. Write clear rules in the caption: the end date and time, who can enter, what to do (follow, comment, tag a friend) and how the winner will be contacted. Instagram’s promotion guidelines also ask organizers to state that the giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed or run by Instagram, so check the current version before you launch.
Close entries at the announced time, copy the comments just after, and draw alternates in the same session in case a winner does not reply. For a giveaway with no comment rules, the raffle generator is quicker, and a prize wheel works well when several different prizes are at stake.
Is the Instagram draw really random?
Yes. Winners are drawn among valid entries only, with your browser’s cryptographic random generator, before the animation starts. With 400 valid accounts and one entry each, every account has exactly 1 chance in 400, whether it commented once or ten times. There is no setting to choose a winner in advance. The explanation of how our draws stay fair describes the method and lets anyone simulate thousands of draws.
Frequently asked questions
How do I run a free Instagram giveaway draw?
Post your giveaway with clear rules, wait until the closing time, then copy the comments from the post and paste them here. Set one entry per account and any mention or hashtag rule, check the preview, and draw your winners and alternates. Everything is free, with no account and no limit on the number of giveaways you run.
Do I need to connect my Instagram account?
No, and you never should for a draw. The tool works only with text you copy and paste, or a CSV file you import. It does not ask for your password, uses no Instagram API and sends nothing to our server. Your comments are processed in your browser and disappear when you clear the list.
How are friend mentions counted?
The tool counts the distinct @usernames in each comment. Tagging the same friend twice counts once, and a participant tagging their own account does not count. If your rule is “tag two friends”, set the minimum to 2: comments with fewer mentions are marked as excluded in the preview, with the reason shown, so you can review them before the draw.
How many comments can I import?
Up to 5,000 entries, which covers most giveaways from small and medium accounts. Paste the comments in one go or import a CSV file. After filtering, the preview shows exactly how many entries are valid, and the draw only uses those. For very large contests, you can also paste a cleaned list of usernames.
How can I prove the giveaway wasn’t rigged?
Record your screen or go live during the draw, then post the result image and the certificate. The certificate gives the date, the number of valid entries, the settings and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the list. Share the list file too: anyone can recalculate the fingerprint and confirm that no account was added or removed afterwards.
Does it work for TikTok or Facebook giveaways?
Yes. The automatic comment reader is tuned for text copied from Instagram, but you can paste a list of TikTok, Facebook, YouTube or X usernames, one per line, or import a CSV file. Duplicate removal, exclusions, alternates and the certificate work the same way, as in the raffle generator.
