Prize Wheel: Spin to Win
A spin-to-win wheel for booths, shops and events, with a quantity per prize and odds everyone can see.
What is a prize wheel?
A prize wheel is the spin-to-win game you see at trade shows, store openings and school fairs: a visitor spins, and the slice under the pointer decides what they take home. It draws a crowd and makes even a small prize feel like a win.
This online prize wheel adds what a cardboard wheel cannot: a quantity for each prize, so it never hands out a tote bag you no longer have, and odds shown in percent next to every prize. It runs free in any browser, with no account.
Set up your prizes and quantities
- Open the editor in list view and type your prizes, one per row.
- Tick the Stock column and enter each quantity. Leave it empty for unlimited slices like “Spin again”.
- Tick the Weights column to make rare prizes rarer: a weight of 0.5 gives half the chance of a weight of 1.
- Check the percentages, then go full screen.
Each win lowers the stock by one. At zero, the prize leaves the draw and the other slices share its chance.
The sample prizes and their odds
The wheel opens with six example slices: 5 vouchers for 10% off, 10 tote bags, 20 free coffees, a single grand prize, plus unlimited “Spin again” and “Better luck next time”. Exact odds per spin: 13.8% for the voucher and the tote bag, 20.7% for coffee and for spinning again, 27.6% for no prize and 3.4% for the grand prize.
- 10% off voucher 14%
- Tote bag 14%
- Free coffee 21%
- Spin again 21%
- Better luck next time 28%
- Grand prize 3.4%
Show the odds: why transparency matters
Many people assume the big prize on a spin-to-win wheel is never really on offer. Showing the odds is the simplest answer. Each slice here is sized exactly in proportion to its chance, and a “Custom odds” badge appears under the wheel whenever weights differ.
To plan your stock, estimate the number of spins: with 200 visitors and 20 coffees, a 10% chance makes them last all day. At a weight of 0.1, the grand prize falls to about 0.7%, roughly once every 141 spins.
Running the wheel at a booth
Load the page once with a connection and it keeps working offline, even when the venue Wi-Fi gives up. Full screen leaves only the wheel and the Spin button and keeps the tablet awake. Stock is saved with the wheel, so a restart does not reset your counts. Display the QR code from the Share menu so visitors can check the odds on their own phone.
Giveaway rules: points to check
General information only, not legal advice: rules vary by country. Before a spin-to-win game for customers, check that you have:
- written rules covering who can play, the dates, each prize and how winners are chosen;
- a free way to take part, since many countries restrict games of chance that require a purchase;
- an age limit where needed, and a plan for handing over prizes;
- a privacy notice if you collect emails or names (GDPR in the EU, law 09-08 in Morocco).
A branded prize wheel for your business
Want your logo, colors, email collection or promo codes on the wheel? We build custom prize wheels for brands on request. Tell us about your project on the contact page, choosing the “Branded wheel / partnership” subject, and we will reply with a quote.
Is the prize wheel fair?
Yes, and you can prove it. The prize is drawn by the browser’s cryptographic generator before the wheel moves, with exactly the odds displayed; how hard someone spins only changes the show, never the result. There is no option to force a winner. The wheel fairness page explains the method and simulates thousands of spins.
Frequently asked questions
How does a prize wheel work?
Each prize gets a slice sized to match its chance. When someone spins, the result is drawn at random before the animation starts, and the wheel slows down to stop on that slice. With quantities set, a prize that runs out leaves the wheel automatically, so you never promise something you cannot hand over.
Can I limit the number of each prize?
Yes. Turn on the Stock column in the editor’s list view and type a quantity for each prize. Every win lowers it by one, the result window shows how many remain, and at zero the prize is marked out of stock and removed from the draw. Leave the field empty for unlimited slices.
Should I show the odds on a prize wheel?
We recommend it. Visible odds stop the “it’s rigged” comments, and in some countries the rules of a promotional game must describe how winners are chosen anyway. On this wheel, percentages appear next to each prize as soon as weights differ, and you can force them on or off in Settings.
Can I use the prize wheel on a tablet without internet?
Yes. Open the page once while connected, ideally the day before your event. The site then works offline, including your saved wheels and their stock. In full screen the tablet stays awake, so keep it plugged in during long events.
Can you make a prize wheel in our brand colors?
Yes, on request. We create branded prize wheels with your logo and colors, and can add email collection or promo codes for shops and events. Send us your needs through the contact form. For a simple draw among participants instead, the raffle generator picks several winners at once.
